Cobalt based materials / Stellite

Cobalt based materials / Stellite

Cobalt base alloys, also known under the brand name Stellite, are available in different hardnesses, from relatively soft materials that can be machined to tough wear-resistant alloys, optionally alloyed with tungsten carbides for extreme wear resistance.

Cobalt-based materials are often used in high-temperature applications due to their high resistance to high-temperature corrosion. This makes it very suitable for solving various wear problems.

Properties

  • Metallurgical connection to the substrate
  • Resistant to line, impact and point loads
  • Resistant to thermal shock
  • Homogeneous and closed structure
  • Commonly used for high-temperature applications
  • Maximum operating temperature: 840˚C

Examples

  • Valves / Valves / Seats
  • Axle bushes / Wear bushes
  • Exhaust valves combustion engines
  • Thermowells
  • Wear plates
  • Forging Dies
  • Knives
  • Pull mandrels
  • Transport screws / Augers
